About

Why We Exist

Ithaca has a strong base of groups and classes in science, technology, engineering, and math - U.S. News and World Report rates Ithaca High School as the 37th top STEM high school in the nation. And yet, for years, our teachers and advisors have been lamenting the need for funding (let's face it, technology is not cheap!) and the need for better collaboration, communication, and support. Ithaca STEM Advocates was formed by a group of community members to support our teachers and advisors as they challenge and engage our kids.

Who We Serve

The Ithaca City School District has a rich and varied group of STEM-related activities. They include elementary level science fairs, middle school and high school math clubs, the Code Red Robotics, Science Olympiad, the Technology Student Association, and many in-school classes.

Where We're Headed

Our first step is to gather together everyone in Ithaca who believes in and wants to support STEM-related education and create a central forum for the exchange of ideas and needs. Going forward, Ithaca STEM Advocates will be the place to go to look for help, offer your support, request funds, and announce your accomplishments.
