Creative Math Camps -- week-long summer camps for Grades K-5

Post date: Jun 7, 2016 3:15:37 PM

Get engaged with mathematics this summer at Creative Math Camps for all elementary school students! Students have the opportunity to spend a week exploring the intuitive, hands-on, relevant applications of mathematics as they engage in workshops of music, art, science, nature, engineering, and more. With a 4:1 camper-to-counselor ratio, students experience both individual attention from trained, passionate counselors as well as group support from their peers as they discover how to utilize their own reasoning skills and brain power to conquer challenges. Math Camps are not about worksheets, homework, memorization, or timed exercises; rather, they are about reasoning and logic, conceptualizing, modeling, and creatively solving problems.

Creative Math Camps are open to all elementary school level students of all relationships of math, running M-F 9am-1pm. Students can sign up for any one of the three camps: July 11th-15th at South Hill Elementary; July 18th-22nd at Fall Creek Elementary; and July 25th-29th at Cayuga Heights Elementary. Creative Math Camps are hosted by Math Engaged, a program of the Durland Alternatives Library, project partner of the Center for Transformative Action (a 501(c)(3) organization). To learn more and to sign up, visit MathEngaged.org or call the Program Director, April E. Leithner, at 914-309-3242.
